Body discovered inside burning warehouse in Pompano Beach

Cause of fire remains under investigation

POMPANO BEACH, Fla. – A body was found inside a burning warehouse in Pompano Beach early Tuesday morning.

Firefighters were called to Spirit Auto Sales of South Florida after a sanitation worker driving by saw smoke coming from the roof.

"They were able to put out the fire," Broward Sheriff's Office spokeswoman Gina Carter said. "Once the fire was out, they discovered the body of a person in the building."

The victim was later identified as Robert Posley, 53, of Fort Lauderdale.

BSO homicide detectives are investigating.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

"At this point it's really too soon to tell exactly if it's a suspicious death or accidental death," Carter said.
