Ricardo Blanco accused of striking man with car

Fla. Keys man backed into man who asked him to be quiet, authorities say

STOCK ISLAND, Fla. – A Florida Keys man accused of striking another man with his car was arrested early Wednesday morning.

Monroe County Sheriff's Office spokeswoman Becky Herrin said Ricardo Blanco, 23, was arguing with his girlfriend in front of an apartment building when a resident came outside and asked them to be quiet because he was trying to sleep.

Blanco got in his car and began to drive away when he suddenly placed the car in reverse and backed into the man, knocking him down and pinning him beneath the car, Herrin said.

A friend took the man to the hospital and called 911.

The victim was treated for a broken hand, cuts and abrasions.

Blanco faces a charge of aggravated battery.
