Jurors weigh verdict in Miami Charter School sex abuse trial

Mother of boy claiming abuse seeks $25 million

MIAMI ā€“ Jurors are deciding whether the mother of a boy who claims he was sexually abused at a charter school in Miami should receive $25 million.

Closing arguments were heard Monday in the lawsuit against Miami Charter School.

The boy claims another student sexually assaulted him on a bus and in a school bathroom.

His mother is suing the school for $25 million, saying the school was notified, but nothing was done to stop the attacks against her son.

The boy took the stand last Friday, but he only answered one question because of safety concerns.

"He pushed me down and he pulled down his pants," the child testified. "He put his hand on my head and pushed my head toward his private parts."

Jurors were not allowed to use any form of outside communication during deliberations.
