Rolex, Lexus not enough for 'sweetheart scammer'

Michelle Nicholas accused of taking advantage of 82-year-old man

DEERFIELD BEACH, Fla. – Luxury gifts and a romantic getaway from her lover were not enough for a blond deputies were calling the "sweetheart scammer."

Broward Sheriff's Office deputies said Wednesday they arrested Michelle Nicholas, 46. She allegedly broke her 82-year-old lover's heart.

His wife was out of town, so John Deam, of Deerfield Beach, took Nicholas on a three-day romantic trip to the Keys, police said.

During the trip, Deam bought her a $13,000 Rolex watch. And a few days later, he bought her a $25,887 2006 Lexus.

But that wasn't enough for Nicholas. She used Deam's "identity to open a credit card account in his name with her as an additional card holder," deputies said.

Nicholas, of Wilton Manors, was charged with grand theft and exploitation of the elderly. Her bond was set at $30,000.

Deputies were looking for more victims and Detective Mitch Gordon was asking anyone with information to call 954-321-4255.
