Coast Guard helicopter rescues man injured on cargo ship

Crewmember taken to Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami

MIAMI – A 28-year-old man was flown to a Miami hospital Tuesday night after injuring his head on a cargo ship off the Florida coast.

The U.S. Coast Guard was notified of an injured crewmember on the SKS Tana, which was a little more than 100 miles west of Key West.

A Coast Guard helicopter was used to hoist the man from the ship and take him to Jackson Memorial Hospital.

The Coast Guard didn't say how the man was injured. His condition was not known.
