HOLLYWOOD, Fla. ā A Hollywood woman is being held without bond after she beat and stabbed her 76-year-old mother to death, police said.
Patricia Brennan, 51, was arrested May 18 in connection with the previous evening's attack.
Hollywood police said Brennan held her mother against her will, during which time she beat and stabbed her with a butcher knife.
Police said Brennan's mother managed to escape after Brennan fell asleep and stumbled to a neighbor's house for help.
"When en route to the hospital, she allegedly told the paramedics that you had stabbed her in the abdomen with a butcher knife and struck her on the back of her head with a bottle," Judge John Hurley said Friday morning in court.
She died from her injuries Tuesday.
Police said Brennan initially claimed someone else had broken in and stabbed her mother.
Brennan now faces a charge of murder in addition to charges of aggravated battery and kidnapping.
