Robber yielding knife sought by police

2 woman targeted in Fort Lauderdale days apart

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – Fort Lauderdale police are searching for the robber(s) who threatened two women with a knife just days apart.

The first incident occurred May 22 at the First United Methodist church at 101 SE 3 Ave.

Police say an armed man approached the woman as she was walking to her car. He allegedly pointed a large knife at her chest and demanded her purse. The woman complied with his request and was then ordered to lie down on the ground under her vehicle.

The second incident took place May 29 in the 600 block of Southeast 2 Street. In that robbery, the woman was also threatened with a knife.

In both incidents, the victims described the robber as a black male in his 20s or 30s. He is about 5 feet 10 inches tall, thin build with a short cropped haircut.

It is unclear if the two incidents are related.
