Burglars steal more than $6,000 worth of seafood from Rustic Inn

Men target kitchen freezers with pricey seafood at Dania Beach restaurant

Detectives are trying to identify these two men who made off with more than $6,000 worth of seafood from the Rustic Inn in Dania Beach.

DANIA BEACH, Fla. – Two men were caught on surveillance video stealing an assortment of seafood from a Dania Beach seafood restaurant.

The theft occurred early in the morning July 5 at the Rustic Inn.

Broward Sheriff's Office detectives said the men walked around a locked fence and entered the restaurant. They then used a wrench and fishhook to open the kitchen freezers and get away with more than $6,000 worth of seafood.

The burglars left with 200 pounds of Maine lobster, 100 pounds of blue crab, 40 pounds of crabmeat, 100 pounds of Dungeness crab, 100 pounds of grouper and 100 pounds of snapper.

Employees told deputies the burglars appeared to know what they were doing and only opened the freezers with the expensive seafood.

Both men were heavily tattooed.
