BSO deputy to be released from jail

Eduardo Mesa, 40, accused of stealing drugs from deceased victim at crime scene

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – A BSO deputy arrested on trafficking and grand theft charges is expected to released from jail on bond Thursday.

Earlier in the morning, a judge accepted 40-year-old Eduardo Mesa's $79,000 bond. His parents put up their home as collateral, and are expected to see their son home sometime in the afternoon or evening.

Mesa is accused of stealing drugs from a dead victim at the crime scene of a train accident in January. Detectives said Mesa stole several medications fro the victim, including hydrocodone, Klonopin and Alprazolam pills.

Mesa was ordered to surrender his passport and is not allowed to possess weapons or ammunition once he bonds out.
