Monroe County Sheriff's Office spokeswoman Becky Herrin said a 17-year-old boy was moving some things out of his apartment with the help of his mother and grandmother when his ex-roommates and another man showed up.

During an argument about who owned the property being moved, Chavely Sanchez, 25, beat and kicked the teen's mother while Luis Armenteros, 26, pointed a gun at the teen, Herrin said. The unidentified man then took a gold chain and bracelet from the teen and hit his mother in the head with a baseball bat, Herrin said.

The attackers got away in two different cars, but deputies were able to stop one of them traveling north on U.S. Highway 1. Sanchez was driving and Armenteros was in the passenger seat, Herrin said.

A loaded handgun was found in the glove compartment and a baseball bat was found on the back seat, Herrin said.

Sanchez was arrested on charges of aggravated battery, grand theft and robbery. Armenteros was arrested on charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, possession of a weapon by a convicted felon and robbery. The third man remains at large.

The teen's mother suffered a broken finger and wrist, but she refused to go to a hospital for treatment.
