Maurice Goodman accused of killing ex-lover in Fort Lauderdale

Body of Otis Blue found inside Goodman's bedroom

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – A man has been arrested after his former lover was found dead at a Fort Lauderdale home Thursday.

The body of Otis Blue, 35, was discovered about 1 a.m. inside a home at 1222 N. Flagler Drive.

Fort Lauderdale police said Maurice Goodman, 40, was arrested on a charge of first-degree murder.

"They were both involved in a domestic relationship," Fort Lauderdale police spokeswoman Deanna Greenlaw said.

Blue's friends told police they became concerned after they hadn't seen or heard from him, so they called police to report him missing. The same friends also told police Goodman was acting suspicious after he learned a police report was filed.

Officers conducting a welfare check early Thursday morning discovered Blue's body in Goodman's bedroom.

A medical examiner determined Blue's cause of death to be multiple injuries of blunt trauma.

Gloria Dudley, who lives upstairs, told Local 10 News she heard commotion and screaming from Goodman's apartment overnight. She said Goodman had been troubled about his relationship with Blue.
