2 arrested in fatal Hialeah crash identified

HIALEAH, Fla. – Two people who were arrested in Thursday's fatal crash in Hialeah were identified by police Friday.

Police said Demetrius Marquis Saunders and Diamante Lajuane Warren were driving a stolen vehicle and attempted to burglarize in Hialeah.

Police received information of a suspicious vehicle roaming the area of East 59th Street and as officers arrived in the area, Saunders and Warren fled after noticing the police presence, authorities said.

Shortly after, as the duo were traveling eastbound on 59th Street, they failed to obey a stop sign at East Fourth Avenue and proceeded to drive through the intersection, crashing into a vehicle traveling northbound, killing its driver, according to Hialeah police.

Police said after the crash, both Saunders and Warren bailed out of their stolen vehicle and fled on foot

After establishing a large perimeter around the area of East Fourth Avenue and 59th Street, Saunders and Warren were taken into custody.
