Chikungunya fever case confirmed in Broward County

BROWARD COUNTY, Fla. – The Florida Department of Health confirmed one case of Chikungunya Fever in Broward County on Friday.

The disease is spread through bites from infected mosquitos and is believed to have been brought to South Florida from the Carribbean.

Health officials recommend draining any stranded water that may attract mosquitoes and covering your skin with clothing or use mosquito repellent.

Symptoms include headache, fever, fatigue, dizziness, light sensitivity and confusion.
