Portion of South Florida Metals wall collapses

Truck's lift left in upright position, strikes building

OPA-LOCKA, Fla. – A portion of a South Florida warehouse's façade collapsed Monday after a truck's lift struck the building.

Sky 10 was above the scene as debris from the wall of South Florida Metals was scattered on top of and next to the 18-wheel recycling truck.

City Manager David Chiverton told Local 10 News the truck was delivering a large container filled with debris. After the delivery was made, the lift on the rear of the truck was left in the upright position and struck the building as the truck was driving away.

No injuries were reported, but the building was evacuated as a precaution.
