Car crashes into Margate Dollar Tree

Police: Driver suffered non-life-threatening injuries

A car crashed into this Dollar Tree store in Margate.

MARGATE, Fla. – A man is recovering in the hospital after he crashed his car into the front entrance of a Dollar Tree in Margate Wednesday morning, police said.

According to officers, the driver was trying to park his car in a handicapped spot in front of the store at 5570 Sample Road, when he jumped the curb.

Two women standing in front of the store managed to jump out of the way, narrowly avoiding getting hit by the car, police said.

Sky 10 was over the scene as the front window of the business could be seen completely smashed.

Authorities deemed the facade of the building unstable, and said Dollar Tree employees must get it fixed before re-opening.

The driver was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
