DAVIE, Fla. – For a player who knows what perfection is all about, Manny Fernandez received the perfect honor on Wednesday.

The Miami Dolphins announced that Fernandez, a member of the franchise's two Super Bowl championship teams, including the 17-0 "Perfect Season" club, has been elected for induction into the team's Honor Roll.

Fernandez, 68, will be honored with a halftime ceremony during the Dolphins upcoming home game vs. Minnesota on Sun, Dec. 21.

Undrafted out of Utah, Fernandez went on to become a standout defensive end for the Dolphins from 1968-75.

Fernandez was named to the Dolphins All-Time team in 2007.

A ferocious defender, Fernandez saved his best for the team's biggest games, piling up 3 sacks and 28 tackles in the three Super Bowls in which he played.

Fernandez was second-team All-Pro in 1970 and 1973 and was named the NFL's Unsung Player of the Year in 1973.

Fernandez is the 19th player, and 20th member of the Dolphins Honor Roll which is a ring around the upper deck at Sun Life Stadium.
