2 officers hurt in collision while en route to police-involved shooting

MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. – Two Miami-Dade police officers were injured in a collision while on their way to assist with a police-involved shooting investigation.

The collision occurred Monday morning near Northwest 119th Street and Northwest Second Avenue.

Sky 10 was above the scene as the collision occurred. The officers got out of the cruiser from the front passenger side door. They were treated at the scene and expected to be OK.

Miami-Dade police said Henry Pigott was acting erratically in the street when officers arrived and tried to calm him down. At some point, a confrontation ensued and shots were fired, but nobody was injured, police said.

Pigott, 28, was taken into custody on the sidewalk nearby. Police said Pigott was in possession of a weapon.
