SWAT called to Fort Lauderdale condominium

Man taken into custody, Baker Acted

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – A Fort Lauderdale man was taken into custody Thursday morning, hours after a disturbance at a condominium.

The incident began around 12:30 a.m. at the Mar Vista building at 3019 Harbor Drive.

Police said officers knocked on the door of John Loden, 39, and after a short delay heard what sounded like a single gunshot come from the inside of the second-floor unit.

SWAT officers ordered Loden out of his condo and he was taken into custody. Police said there was blood and shattered glass throughout the condo, but no one was inside the unit except for Loden.

It's still unclear what sparked the disturbance, but neighbors who heard the commotion were shaken by what transpired.

"I just heard a lot of yelling," said Dale, who did not want to give his last name. "There were a bunch of cops."

Loden was taken to Broward Health Medical Center where he was Baker Acted.

Police said no innocent bystanders or officers were injured during the incident.

Anyone with any information about this case is asked to cal detective Joseph Mogavero at 954-828-5586.
