21 vehicles burglarized in Monroe County

Detectives believe same man caught on surveillance video in 2 thefts

MONROE COUNTY, Fla. – The Monroe County Sheriff's Office is searching for at least one man believed to be responsible for 21 vehicle burglaries in the past two days.

Deputies said the vehicles, which were all unlocked, were broken into in the middle of the night in the areas of Stock Island and lower Sugarloaf Key.

In some incidents nothing was taken from the vehicles, but in one instance a purse and credit cards were stolen and in 15 others the thief took loose change, a radar detector and sunglasses.

Deputies believe the same man was captured on surveillance video burglarizing the vehicles.

Anyone with information about the burglaries is asked to call the Sheriff's Office or Crime Stoppers of the Florida Keys at 1-800-346-TIPS.
