MIAMI – The Perez Art Museum Miami turns one this Art Basel Miami Beach weekend.

The $131 million museum building, 1103 Biscayne Blvd., in downtown Miami, opened its doors Dec. 6, 2013 just in time for Art Basel VIPs to get a tour. It was formerly the Center for the Fine Arts in 1984, and about a decade later on Flagler Street it was the Miami Art Museum.

PAMM opened last year, as construction continued at Museum Park. The collection began with about 1,800 pieces including 110 works from developer Jorge Perez, whom the museum is named after, and 102 from developer Craig Robins, a pioneer of Miami's Design District.
