2 women shot in Miami Gardens

Man says he spoke to girl who may have witnessed shooting

MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. ā€“ Two women were wounded in a double shooting Wednesday evening in Miami Gardens.

The shooting happened at a home near Northwest 168th Terrance and 27th Avenue.

Both victims were taken to Jackson Memorial Hospital in critical but stable condition.

Surveillance cameras at an Exxon gas station next door captured paramedics wheeling a victim away on a stretcher and showed a girl running into the arms of waiting firefighters.

A man who identified himself only as Tony said he was outside the gas station when he saw the girl.

"I know she was scared," he said. "She had to be scared."

Miami Gardens police won't confirm if a child was at the home at the time of the shooting, but Tony said he spoke to the girl, who may have seen it all.

"The little girl was inside the house," he told Local 10 News. "She says she was hiding inside the closet (and) that her momma got shot. She said two people got shot -- her auntie, too."

Police haven't said if the shooter was a man or woman, but they are investigating the shooting as a domestic incident.

"The little girl was saying something about an ex-boyfriend or something," Tony said.

Police said the shooter is still at large.
