Hialeah man sold travel packages that weren't booked, investigators say

State says Edgar Sosa, business not registered as seller

HIALEAH, Fla. – A Hialeah man is accused of selling phony vacation packages to unsuspecting customers.

Edgar Sosa, 49, was arrested Wednesday on felony charges of grand theft and fraudulent use of a credit card.

According to investigators with the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services, Sosa sold vacation packages that were never booked.

Investigators said a victim booked a vacation through Sosa's company, Promo Alma Inc., but upon arriving in Miami was stranded without transportation and carrying falsified hotel and cruise line reservations. That victim paid more than $3,000 for the trip.

In addition, investigators said, Sosa and his company are not registered as a seller with the state as required.
