Suspect in Pembroke Pines shooting released from jail

Calvin Rahman, 22, posts $7,500 bond

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – A man accused of opening fire outside a popular Pembroke Pines shopping center is out of jail.

Local 10 News was outside the main Broward County jail early Tuesday morning as Calvin Rahman, 22, was released on $7,500 bond. He got into the back seat of a waiting car and extended his middle finger to the camera.

Before the car drove away, Rahman stuck his head out of the window and yelled, "I love America."

Rahman was arrested Monday, accused of shooting Andrew Verde, 20.

Police said Rahman got into a fight with Verde outside of Cigar Bar at the Shops at Pembroke Gardens shortly before 3 a.m. Monday. Police said Rahman shot Verde once.

Verde was taken to Memorial Regional Hospital, where he was expected to be released Tuesday.
