Hundreds in line for free holiday food basket

Latin Chamber of Commerce distributing food in Little Havana

MIAMI – Hundreds of people lined up early Wednesday morning in Little Havana to receive their free holiday meal basket from the Latin Chamber of Commerce.

Local 10 News reporter Johanna Torres said some people have been in line since Tuesday.

Earlier this month, thousands already waited several days just to get the voucher.

The organization gave out 3,000 vouchers worth $120 in groceries.

Gov. Rick Scott and former Gov. Jeb Bush made an appearance at the event. Bush's visit comes a day after he announced plans to "actively explore the possibility" of running for president in 2016.

This is the 29th year that the Latin Chamber of Commerce has held a food giveaway.
