Man charged in shooting death of ex-girlfriend

Jorge Polanco, 44, charged with 1st-degree murder, 1st-degree attempted murder

HIALEAH, Fla. – A 44-year-old man was arrested Tuesday and charged with the murder of his ex-girlfriend and the attempted murder of another woman who remains in critical condition.

Police said Jorge Salgado Polanco shot Niurvy Dlima, 44, and Estela Cuba, 50, Dec. 14 as they were driving away from the parking lot of Las Tabernas de Wancho, a night club at 2100 W. 76th St.

Polanco walked up to their vehicle and fired several times into the car, instantly killing his ex-girlfriend, Dlima, and critically injuring Cuba, police said.

Polanco and Dlima had recently separated after a 10-year relationship and police said they believe he was distraught and unhappy about the breakup.

Polanco has been charged with first-degree murder and first-degree attempted murder.
