Yandri Macaya is accused of holding a kitchen knife to his girlfriend's throat and threatening to kill her.

MARATHON, Fla. – A Marathon man was arrested Saturday night after he broke into his girlfriend's mobile home, held a knife to her throat and threatened to kill her, according to the Monroe County Sheriff's Office.

Deputies arrived just before 11 p.m. to hear screaming coming from the trailer. When deputies entered, they found Yandri Macaya, 35, on top of the 39-year-old woman, sheriff's spokeswoman Becky Herrin said.

The woman told deputies Macaya came to her trailer and pounded on the door. She said she could tell he'd been drinking, so she locked the door, locked herself inside the bathroom and called 911 for help.

Macaya broke through the front window to get inside, grabbed a kitchen knife and forced his way inside the bathroom, Herrin said. He then held the knife to the woman's throat and said he was going to kill her, Herrin said.

The woman claimed Macaya punched her several times and choked her before deputies arrived.

Macaya was arrested on charges of aggravated assault, burglary with battery and criminal mischief.
