Man accused of acting as girl's pimp, paying her about $1,000 per day

MIAMI – A man accused of exploiting a 15-year-old girl by acting as her pimp and prostituting her at a South Florida motel was arrested Tuesday.

Agustin Santana, 22, faces charges of human trafficking, interference with child custody and sexual battery on a minor.

According to the police report, the girl's parents were distributing fliers at a La Quinta hotel in Cutler Bay when an employee recognized her from an advertisement on Backpage.com.

The Jan. 14 ad claimed the girl was "an available escort in the Cutler Bay area."

An undercover police officer posing as a potential client arranged to meet the girl, who agreed to be paid $100 for 30 minutes of sex, the report said.

When officers arrived at the hotel, they found Santana "in the hallway within close proximity to the room, acting as a lookout and security" for the girl, the report said.
