WILTON MANORS, Fla. – A 30-year-old man was arrested on multiple charges Friday after he was accused of applying and using credit cards under a 64-year-old Wilton Manors man's name, police said.

Detectives from the Wilton Manors Police Department arrested Daniel Nelson, 30, after investigating a case involving a 64-year-old Wilton Manors resident who was in the hospital on a respirator and his live-in roommate of over seven years, police said.

Nelson applied for 11 credit cards in the victim's name. Police said he received three of the credit cards and made over 136 purchases on those credit cards between January and February without the victim's knowledge or consent for a total loss of over $10,000.

The victim is cooperating with detectives in the investigation, police said.

Nelson is being held at the Broward Sheriff's Office Main Jail for one count of larceny of credit cards, one count of grand theft ($10,000 or more but less than $20,000), 151 counts of illegal use of credit cards (more than two times in six months for goods over $100), one count of receipt of money or goods obtained by fraudulent use of credit cards, one count of fraudulent use of identification of an individual who is older than 60 years of age without consent, nine counts of false statement-information regarding financial condition, and one count of exploitation of an elderly person less than $20,000.
