Man killed in hit-and-run crash in Dania Beach

Detectives interview person of interest; damaged maroon Ford F-150 recovered

DANIA BEACH, Fla. – A person of interest in a fatal hit-and-run crash in Dania Beach was speaking with detectives.

The crash happened just before 7:30 p.m. Wednesday in the 2600 block of Griffin Road.

Broward Sheriff's Office deputies said two men were walking home after buying ice cream when one of them was struck by a truck while trying to cross the road.

The 57-year-old man was pronounced dead at Memorial Regional Hospital.

Deputies said he stepped into the path of the truck.

BSO spokeswoman Dani Moschella said the person of interest contacted investigators Thursday afternoon. She said the damaged maroon Ford F-150 pickup truck that may have been involved has been recovered.

Anyone with information is asked to call Broward County Crime Stoppers at 954-493-TIPS. A reward of up to $3,000 is being offered for information leading to an arrest.
