Monroe County Sheriff's Office deputies said sometime in January, Lawrence stole the checkbook from his employer's work van. They said he wrote himself a check for $700 and then cashed it at a bank.

Deputies said Lawrence also stole his employer's van.

The van was later recovered in Marathon. Police said the van had damage on the side of it from an accident Lawrence was involved in.

Lawrence was arrested and charged with burglary of a vehicle, grand theft and uttering a forged document.
