Fire breaks out at Miami Gardens warehouse

Warehouse filled with hay, fertilizer

MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. – Firefighters battled a massive fire inside a Miami Gardens warehouse early Monday morning.

The fire started at a 30,000-square-foot warehouse near Northwest 206th Street and Northwest 17th Avenue shortly before 3 a.m.

Local 10 News reporter Jenise Fernandez said the warehouse was filled with fertilizer, wood chips and stacks of hay.

"The hay is stacked from ceiling to ground," Miami-Dade Fire Rescue Battalion Chief Ray Jadallah said. "We are having a hard time making entry into the structure. We're actually utilizing forklifts to make entry into the structure."

Jadallah said two firefighters were injured battling the blaze. One was taken to a hospital to be treated.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
