Fredericka Howard dies 3 days before 31st birthday

POMPANO BEACH, Fla. – A mother of four was killed in a hit-and-run crash early Saturday morning in Pompano Beach.

The crash occurred about 2:40 a.m. at Atlantic Boulevard and Northwest 16th Avenue.

Fredericka Howard, 30, was driving west on Northwest 16th Avenue attempting to cross Atlantic Boulevard when someone driving a white Ford F-150 slammed into the driver's side of Howard's car at a high rate of speed, Broward Sheriff's Office traffic homicide detectives said.

Howard, a mother of four, was taken to Broward Health North, where she was pronounced dead.

Deputies said the driver of the truck fled the scene.

BSO spokeswoman Gina Carter said Howard was three days away from celebrating her 31st birthday.
