U.S. Coast Guard rescues fisherman in Bahamas

72-year-old man reported missing Thursday night

MIAMI – The U.S. Coast Guard rescued a 72-year-old fisherman who was stranded near Lake Rosa, Bahamas on Friday.

The man was reported missing in Great Inagua after he failed to meet in a designated place Thursday night after a fishing trip.

The Royal Bahamian Defense Force was notified and requested assistance from the Coast Guard.

U.S. Coast Guard rescues 72-year-old fisherman in Bahamas

During the search, a Coast Guard crew spotted the man, who was standing in knee-deep water, waving at them.

The man was hoisted into the helicopter and taken to Matthewtown airfield in the Bahamas.

The man was not injured.
