Employee injured after car crashes into Miami supermarket

Driver backs up into store, crashes into apartment building wall, police say

MIAMI – One person was injured after a car crashed into a supermarket Thursday morning in Miami.

The crash was reported shortly before 10:45 a.m. at 15005 NE Sixth Ave.

A Miami Department of Fire-Rescue representative said three cars were involved in the crash, and one drove into the Giant Market Place No. 2.

Police said the car was parked when the driver put her car in reverse and drove into the store, injuring an employee.

Police said the woman then drove forward, crashing into a wall and fence of an apartment building across the street.

"She was nervous, walking around nervous," supermarket manager, Jose Pujols said.

Police said the employee was taken to Aventura Hospital as a trauma alert.

The roadway was shut down between Northeast 149th Street and 153rd Street as authorities investigated the cause of the crash.

The driver was not injured.
