3-day bike ride raises money for pediatric cancer research

Live Like Bella honors South Florida girl who died of cancer

MIAMI – The Live Like Bella Foundation for Childhood Cancer hosts a three-day bicycle ride to honor Bella Rodriguez-Torres, who died of cancer two years ago.

Ten Miami police officers and her father started biking for Bella on Wednesday in Coconut Grove and plan to end the trip Friday at Disney World's Magic Kingdom.

The bikers plan to stop in Jupiter the first night, Melbourne the second night and then finish in Orlando.

"Four days before she passed away, Miami police and our family organized a Disney dash in the middle of the night to allow Bella to ride her favorite ride, 'It's A Small World,' one last time, and we were able to do that," Bella's father, Raymond Rodriguez-Torres, said.

Bella wanted to be police officer and was named an honorary chief before she died.

The goal is to raise $25,00 for pediatric cancer research.
