POMPANO BEACH, Fla. – A worker died Tuesday morning when he was hit by a car while unloading vehicles from a car hauler on Dixie Highway in Pompano Beach, according to the Broward Sheriff's Office.

Ivan Figueras-Pino, 37, of Miami, was hit while removing chains from a car on the top rack of the truck. The car hauler was pulled over on the side of the northbound lanes with its hazard lights flashing.

A 2015 Hyundai Accent failed to stop and drove up the lowered ramp, hitting Figueras-Pino.

BSO traffic homicide detectives said that it did not appear that Stein attempted to stop or swerve to avoid the car hauler before the collision.

Figueras-Pino was taken to Broward Health North, where he was pronounced dead.

Deputies identified the driver of the Accent as Joshua Stein. He was treated for minor injuries.

The investigation is ongoing.
