HOMESTEAD, Fla. – A man from Homestead was sentenced to more than 12 years in prison Monday for receiving child pornography on his computer.

Jefferson Sanchez's 151-month prison term will be followed by a lifetime of supervised release and he must register as a sex offender.

The 32-year-old pleaded guilty to receiving a visual depiction of a minor engaged in sexually explicit conduct.

According to court documents, police executed a search warrant at his home on Jan. 29 after receiving information that a computer user at his residence was downloading child pornography.

Police said Sanchez had drenched his computer in water and hid it inside a storage bin covered by clothes in hopes of destroying the evidence.

A forensic examination showed that Sanchez had downloaded child porn just moments before authorities arrived at his home.
