Man's body pulled from North Lauderdale canal

BSO says man believed to have fallen into canal

NORTH LAUDERDALE, Fla. – A man's body was pulled from a North Lauderdale canal Monday afternoon.

The body was retrieved from a canal behind the Oakbrook condominiums at 8220 SW 24th St.

Sky 10 was above the canal as a Margate fire-rescue diver was pulling the floating man's body to shore. Lauderhill and Margate rescuers then placed the body on a stretcher and covered it with a white sheet.

Broward Sheriff's Office spokeswoman Gina Carter said a 53-year-old man was reported missing about 8 a.m. She said the man was believed to have fallen into the canal.

The man's identity was not immediately known.
