Trayvon Martin's mother receives proclamation at MDCPS building

Sybrina Fulton honored for work done through Trayvon Martin Foundation

MIAMI – The mother of Trayvon Martin was honored Wednesday for the work she has done for a foundation created in her late son's name.

Sybrina Fulton said she is honored to be recognized and continues to be a voice against violence toward children and building safer communities throughout the state.

Fulton was awarded a proclamation at the Miami-Dade School Board administration building for all she has done through the Trayvon Martin Foundation. She has dedicated her life to transforming family tragedy into social change following the shooting death of her 17-year-old son, which sparked a national debate about race relations.

Fulton said she has lots of back to school events planned, helping kids get off on the right foot as they head back to school next month.
