MIAMI – Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers are increasing a reward for information about a fatal shooting that happened in Wynwood earlier this month to $12,000.

Friends of Thomas Quass, 41, have set up a "Justice 4 Tom" GoFundMe page in the hopes of offering an additional $10,000 for information that leads to an arrest.

As of Wednesday, nearly $5,000 had been raised.

Miami police said Quass was shot and killed on the Fourth  of July on Northwest 26th Street near North Miami Avenue.

Police said Quass and his girlfriend left a Wynwood nightclub and were walking to his car about 1:15 a.m. when a man approached them and had a confrontation with Quass. That man shot Quass and got away in a waiting gray 2013-2015 Hyundai Veloster.

Police described the shooter as a 5 feet 10 inches tall man, who is about 170 pounds. He wore a black and gray shirt, black pants and a black hat at the time of the shooting. Witnesses were unable to provide a description of the getaway driver.

Police said a motive for the shooting is unclear, and they believe it was a random act.
