DAVIE, Fla. – Police said a Davie man accidentally shot his 12-year-old daughter while teaching her about gun safety.
The shooting was reported shortly before 8 p.m. Sunday at 7791 34th St.
Davie police said the man was trying to teach his daughter gun safety when the gun discharged and she was struck in the left forearm.
The 12-year-old was taken to Joe DiMaggio Children's Hospital in Hollywood, where she was being treated for the non-life-threatening injury.
Police said the Broward Sheriff's Office Child Protective Investigations Section was notified of the incident by hospital personnel.
The state attorney's office is reviewing the incident to determine if any charges should be filed.
