Mold found on food at swank South Beach hotel

2 restaurants ordered shut at Pembroke Lakes Mall due to rodent activity

MIAMI BEACH, Fla. – Careful eating the cheese, strawberries, onions and cut tomatoes at The Tides South Beach hotel on Ocean Drive. State inspectors recently noted "mold like" growth on those items in the kitchen of the hotel.

State inspectors also ordered two restaurants in the Pembroke Lakes Mall shut because of rodent activity. Little Toyko, in the same food court, was also ordered shut last month.

Below is a list of the restaurants and  some of their violations. All the places listed were allowed to re-open following ordered clean ups and re-inspections.

"Rodent activity present as evidenced by rodent droppings found. Fresh dropping (10) observed under working containers in kitchen, 16 fresh droppings on oil containers at back door. 5 dry dropping on cookline. Operator discarded all."

"Dead roaches on premises. 1 dead roach under dish sink. Roach discarded."

"Raw animal food stored over ready-to-eat food in walk-in cooler. Shelled eggs stored over vegetables. Raw chicken over beef."

"Raw animal foods not properly separated from one another based upon minimum required cooking temperature in walk-in freezer _ all products not commercially packaged. Raw chicken over non commercially packaged raw beef."

"No currently certified food service manager on duty with four or more employees engaged in food preparation/handling."
