New items found in search for teens missing at sea

Life vests, throw cushion found during private search for Austin Stephanos, Perry Cohen

JUPITER, Fla. – New items have been recovered during the search for two missing 14-year-old boaters from South Florida.

A family spokesman said two life vests and a white throw cushion have been found as the private search continues for Austin Stephanos and Perry Cohen. Those items are similar to those that were on the boys' 19-foot boat.

The items were found as dogs involved in the search used clothing belonging to the teens.

The private search spans from Jupiter to Wilmington, North Carolina, but recent finds have the search focusing on the Georgia coastline from Brunswick to Savannah.

Additional life vests, a white YETI 35?quart cooler, a Yamaha engine cover, a translucent tackle box and a pair of white Royal brand fishing boots are still missing.

The two teenagers disappeared July 24 during a fishing trip. Their boat was found capsized near Daytona Beach two days later.

Family members have been funding the private search since before the U.S. Coast Guard suspended its search last Friday.
