MIRAMAR, Fla. – Police say a man is uninjured after driving his car through the guard rail and into the canal near the corner of Pembroke Road and University Drive in Miramar on Monday night.

The car was going southbound on University Drive when the driver lost control on the wet road while making a left turn onto Pembroke Road. The 2007 two-door Pontiac is being removed from the canal by a crane.

The driver was the only person in the car. He escaped from the car through the sun roof and was shaken up, but police say he's okay.

Florida Power & Light is at the scene because a street light was knocked out in the crash.
