Annual Perseid meteor shower week begins

Midnight is best chance to catch glimpse of shower

PEMBROKE PARK, Fla. – The annual Perseid meteor shower week begins Wednesday night between 10 p.m. and 3 a.m. Thursday.

This year, the meteor shower is happening a day before the new moon, meaning the sky will be dark enough to see meteors without a telescope.

The best time to watch the shower is about midnight.

People who live outside cities and away from bright lights should be able to see it best.
