MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. – Police are searching for three men who robbed a jewelry store at the Shops at Skylake in Miami-Dade County.
The robbery was reported about 10:45 a.m. Wednesday at Burt's Jewelers, 1676 Miami Gardens Drive.
According to police, three men came into the store posing as customers. Police said two of the men pulled out guns, sprayed employees with pepper spray and tied them up.
"I don't know where these people came from," the jewelry store owner, who asked only to be identified as Eileen, told Local 10 News.
Police said the owners provided the thieves to the safe and unlocked some of the cases that had jewelry inside.
The thieves left with $1,500 in cash and several pieces of jewelry valued between $50,000 and $100,000.
"These people came in with guns, they tied them up, and I can't even consider my children getting hurt," Eileen said. "It's not worth it."
Eileen and her husband, Burt, started their family-run business in 1958 and opened the location that was targeted Wednesday in 1970.
The thieves are described as black men in their mid 20s or early 30s. Police said they are between 5 feet 2 inches and 6 feet tall.
Anyone with information about the robbery is asked to call police or Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-TIPS.
