New 'Ride Along 2' trailer showcases Miami

Action-comedy film starring Ice Cube, Kevin Hart to be released next year

The new "Ride Along 2" trailer treats Miami almost like a character in the film.

PEMBROKE PARK, Fla. – The first trailer for next year's "Ride Along" sequel showcases Miami, where the movie was filmed.

Ice Cube and Kevin Hart return for "Ride Along 2," the sequel to the 2014 action-comedy film set in Atlanta.

This time, Atlanta cops James Payton (Cube) and Ben Barber (Hart) are sent to Miami to infiltrate a drug-trafficking ring.

"All the new dealers in Atlanta are getting supplied through Arturio Pope in Miami," Lt. Brooks, played by Bruce McGill, explains to Payton during the trailer. "You need to get me something on this guy."

Pope is portrayed by Benjamin Bratt, while Olivia Munn plays a Miami police detective.

The trailer explains that Pope is running contraband through PortMiami, providing an opportunity to show off arguably the country's most recognizable port with an aerial night shot.

Of course, there is the obligatory shot of an airplane flying over a Miami sign, a glimpse of a go-fast boat speeding along Biscayne Bay in downtown and a view of the MacArthur Causeway.

"Ride Along 2" was filmed in Miami and elsewhere throughout South Florida last summer. A stretch of State Road A1A in Fort Lauderdale Beach was closed for a chase scene that also appears in the trailer.

The movie is scheduled to be released Jan. 15. Watch the trailer below.
