Family raises money for funeral after Dania Beach woman fatally shot

Clifford Stewart III, 20, charged in shooting death of Ty'Necia Williams

DANIA BEACH, Fla. – The family of a young woman who was killed, allegedly by her boyfriend, is raising money for her funeral expenses.

Clifford Stewart III, 20, was arrested Tuesday on a second-degree murder charge in connection with the death of Tynecia Williams, 19.

Broward Sheriff's Office spokeswoman Dani Moschella said Stewart initially told deputies that an unidentified man shot Williams and drove off. However, he later changed his story, telling detectives that he and Williams were playing Russian roulette when she was shot, Moschella said.

Stewart eventually admitted that he and Williams were alone in the apartment when he accidentally shot her in the abdomen, Moschella said.

Williams' family didn't buy that story, telling Local10.com that Stewart had been controlling over his girlfriend, who was a recent graduate of the Hollywood Beauty Institute, and had just received her aesthetician license from the state of Florida.

"She suffered silently at the hands of a controlling and jealous man," Williams' cousin Marshelle Davis said. "He took her away from us at the peak of her life."

Williams was taken to Memorial Regional Hospital after the shooting, where she was pronounced dead.

Moschella said Stewart confessed to burying the gun in a wooded area behind their apartment building.
