Police search for 3 kids who burglarized single mother's home

Electronics, food stolen Sunday from home in southwest Miami-Dade

MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. – Miami-Dade police are investigating after a trio of young people were caught on camera burglarizing the home of a single mother and her 5-year-old son.

Arlene Thelon said she arrived at her southwest Miami-Dade County home after 5 p.m. Sunday to find that the crooks had thrown a rock through her son's bedroom window to get inside.

Surveillance cameras caught three people rummaging through the home, stealing electronics belonging to the boy, school backpacks and even food from the refrigerator.

Thelon said she has been living at the home off Southwest 274th Terrace for only about three months.

"They were real young. They look to be about middle school, early high school age," she said.

Thelon's son Aiden begged for the "bad guys" to return the goods they stole, adding, "Please don't never do that again."

The neighborhood where the burglary was reported is still under construction.

Police are seeking to determine whether the confident crooks are responsible for other burglaries in the area.

Anyone with information is asked to call Miami-Dade police or Crime Stoppers at 305-471-TIPS.
