Both men taken to hospital; second would-be robber gets away

OAKLAND PARK, Fla. – A victim in an attempted robbery was shot Monday in Oakland Park, but not before shooting one of the would-be robbers, according to the Broward Sheriff's Office.

The incident happened just before 1 p.m. on Northwest 17th Terrace.

BSO spokeswoman Dani Moschella said the victim was inside the office at an auto parts business when two men walked in and threatened him with a gun.

Moschella said the victim was able to grab hold of the gun and shot one of the would-be robbers. She said the victim was also shot.

Both men were taken to Broward Health Medical Center, where they were recovering.

Moschella said the other would-be robber got away. Detectives were looking for a dark gray or black, newer model BMW.
